Ealing Council has held the latest in an on-going series of spot checks of refuse and recycling collection and street cleaning standards across the borough.
The Greenford Broadway and Southfields areas were inspected on 8 and 12 November, with no prior warning, by Council Leader, Councillor Julian Bell, and cabinet member for Transport and Environment, Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, together with staff from the council’s contractor Enterprise. Local ward councillors were also invited to attend.
In addition to regular collections and street cleaning, the group saw Enterprise crews busy at work clearing large volumes of leaves from the streets.
Enterprise, which took over the contract in April, has been instructed to improve its performance after disappointing results in the first weeks of the new service.
Councillor Mahfouz said: “These services have been steadily improving after major problems when Enterprise initially took over the contract, but we are determined to ensure the highest possible standards are consistently achieved for residents.
“The spot checks are an important test and we are committed to continue them.”
Residents can report any missed collection quickly and easily at any time using a short e-form on the council’s website
Alternatively, they can phone the Customer Services team on 020 8825 6000 which is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
The Council’s Grimebusters hotline 020 8825 8825 offers a 24 hour, seven days a week facility for residents to report graffiti and fly tipping. We aim to remove 90% of graffiti within 24 hours of it being reported, and all flytipping by the end of the next working day.
