Walpole Park will play host to a Big Lunch on Sunday 7th June

The Big Lunch, the biggest picnic event of the summer, takes place in Walpole Park on Sunday , 7 June.

The Big Lunch is UK’s annual munch-together encouraging friends and neighbours to have their lunch together and spend some quality time outdoors getting to know one another better.

As part of the celebrations in Walpole Park, there will be Walpole Park’s Brazilian chef in residence cooking up delicious taster plates for people to try. There will also be lots of stalls and fun vegetable themed activities for children to get involved with. There will also be live performances from a Samba band. . The Big Lunch will start at 11am and run until 4pm.

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for transport, environment and leisure, said: “What a great way to start the summer in the park! This is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to come and enjoy the transformational benefits the £5million investment has brought to this much loved park.  This is going to be a sizzling event with a great atmosphere, so get it in your diary now to enjoy some great family fun.”

All events are free and residents are encouraged to bring food, drink, friends and family and get involved.
