Staying active and healthy is important for everyone – which is why Ealing Council is working to ensure that the borough’s leisure facilities continue to provide important services as we adjust to the new challenges created by COVID-19.
The good news is that whether it is swimming, gym, or an exercise class, there is something for everyone at a local leisure centre near you.
Following on from the successful reopening of four leisure centres at the end of July (The Everyone Active Acton Centre, Dormers Wells and Northolt Leisure centres and Southall Sports Centre), further activities and programmes are returning at these centres.
And, Elthorne Sports Centre, Greenford Sports Centre, Perivale Park Athletics Track, Reynolds Sports Centre and Twyford Sports Centre are due to reopen very soon (5 October), along with some clubs also returning to sports halls.
You can find out full details of these facilities at the Everyone Active website.
The Everyone Active Acton Centre, Dormers Wells and Northolt Leisure centres, are all now taking new enrolments for swimming lessons.
Every effort is being made to ensure that the facilities are maintained to high standards of hygiene and safety and anyone planning a visit should be aware that there will be new arrangements in place to aid social distancing. Of course, indoor sportshave to conform to the national ‘rule of six’, limiting them to a maximum of six participants.
It is essential that anyone visiting a leisure centre visits the Everyone Active website beforehand to familiarise themselves with the new rules and book their place beforehand.
Councillor Bassam Mafouz, the council’s cabinet member for leisure and finance, said: “We are proud of the excellent facilities available to residents across the borough.
“Swimming lessons are now resuming in some leisure centres and more facilities due to open next month, so I encourage local people to continue be safe and responsible when planning a visit. We all need to adjust to the new normal and the ongoing measures in place to stop the spread of COVID-19.
“Ealing’s facilities will comply with government and public health guidelines to ensure the safety of customers and staff. But everyone can play their part by washing their hands, sticking to social distancing and following the new rules.”
