Bassam grew up in Northolt since the age of four and was elected as a councillor for Northolt West End in May 2005.
He attended school locally at St. Raphael’s RC Primary, where he served as a governor for over 20 years.
He currently works for a London housing association in community investment.
On the council, Bassam is currently the Cabinet member for Decent Living Incomes. He was previously cabinet member for Finance & Leisure (2018-2021) and Environment, Transport & Leisure 2010-2018 and Chaired the West London Waste Authority during this time also.
2012-2020, Bassam was a member of the London Waste & Recycling Board (now ReLondon) and Circular Economy Champion.
Bassam is married to Izabela, they have two sons, is a Liverpool fan, enjoys rugby too and is a keen cyclist and runner.
